The Patek Philippe Twenty~4 4910/1200A is worth considering if you want a compact rectangular watch and prefer quartz operation to a winding routine. Its case and bracelet form a continuous visual design, so it should be assessed as a complete object rather than a dial photograph. This guide uses the manufacture’s 2020 launch material to explain the reference. Later listings and individual configurations should be checked against their own documents.
Recognise the correct dial generation
The Twenty~4 collection began in 1999, and Patek Philippe updated the rectangular steel model with references 4910/1200A-001 and 4910/1200A-010 in 2020.[10] The launch material identifies Arabic numerals 12 and 6, with applied trapeze-shaped hour markers. They replaced the Roman numerals and diamond hour markers of the earlier rectangular references.[10]
A listing for the 4910/1200A should not automatically be illustrated or described with the dial of an older 4910/10A. Record the full reference and compare the actual watch with the corresponding specification. Similar case shapes can conceal a different generation.
A rectangular case needs its own fit test
The 2020 specification gives a steel case measuring 25.1 by 30 mm and a height of 6.8 mm.[10] Those measurements do not translate directly into how a round watch of similar width would wear. Case length, curvature and the bracelet’s first links determine where the watch sits and how it follows the wrist.
Try it with the bracelet adjusted before judging comfort. Make sure the clasp closes securely and that there are enough links for your wrist. If the bracelet is too large during a viewing, the watch may move in a way that disguises its intended fit. If it is too short, confirm the cost and availability of a suitable adjustment before committing.
Quartz is part of the design brief
Patek Philippe identifies the E15 quartz movement with hours and minutes for these launch references.[10] This is not a rectangular version of the round Twenty~4 Automatic. The distinction matters to the owner: no automatic winding routine is required, but the watch still needs battery attention and appropriate maintenance.
Ask when the battery was last replaced, whether the work included relevant checks, and what is known about service history. A watch that has stopped should not simply be assumed to need a battery. Have the cause assessed, especially where the maintenance record is incomplete. Do not treat quartz as maintenance-free or as inherently less suitable for a considered luxury purchase.
Inspect the case, setting and bracelet
The 2020 launch specification describes 36 brilliant-cut diamonds on the bezel, a fully polished steel bracelet and a fold-over clasp.[10] Check the offered example rather than inferring its exact details from a family name. Ask about any repairs, replacement components or changes to the original configuration.
Look for visible damage and request information about polishing. Check bracelet articulation and clasp operation, and review the documents alongside the watch. The launch material gives a 30-metre water-resistance specification.[10] That is not evidence of a pre-owned example’s current sealing condition; discuss intended use and appropriate testing rather than treating the collection name as permission for all-day water exposure.
Choose on your own terms
This is a design and ownership choice, not a statement about what women should wear. Anyone considering the watch should compare readability, comfort, maintenance and price. The Patek Philippe collection shows actual listings; this guide does not imply a Twenty~4 is currently in stock. Read our quartz ownership guide and confirm the exact reference, condition and current RM price before arranging a viewing.
